I surround myself with Huacos, pre-columbian ceramics and Quenas and Sikus, bamboo wind instruments. The modeled clay vases are objects of power. The wind instruments are Pre-Columbian and others I made myself out of jungle bamboo.
By performing the bipolar Siku panflute I make it come to life and sing, I also bring out my own spirit into the Siku. My inner self appears through the performance. I love sound. It is another world, far away from the visual arts, the philosophical, conceptual, and postmodern thinking.

The first small notched bear bone flute found in the world is European. The Neanderthal flute was discovered in Divje babe cave near Cerkno, Slovenia, 60,000 BC. The Xiao is a Chinese notched bamboo flute 4,000 BC. The Japanese Shakuhashi is the transformation of the Xiao brought to Japan in 700 AC. It became a mediation Zen wind instrument. The "monks of emptiness" wanted to attain spiritual enlightenment by playing the shakuhachi. 1,600 AC Komuso were ascetic monks from a sect of Zen Buddhism called the Fuke sect.
The Mama Quena notched bamboo flute has the possibilities for mediation and it changes my state of mind, It revitalizes my body through strong diaphragm breathing. And I use it for mediation.
